I have served in leadership roles at the national, state, and local levels throughout my career. Currently, I serve as President of the Board of Directors for the Children’s Advocacy Center of the Coastal Bend (CAC-CB), an organization that serves ten counties across our region. During the past few years, the CAC-CB has experienced significant changes and growth, focusing on its ability to provide critical services that help protect abused children, support families, and reduce the long-term effects of trauma. I am grateful to work alongside a dedicated team committed to improving the lives of children and families throughout the Coastal Bend. (See Kiii-TV News Story)
In addition to my leadership service, I provide professional presentations and workshops across Texas and within our local community. These presentations focus on topics such as child safety, family well-being, healthy parenting practices, and contemporary challenges facing children and families. Areas of emphasis include the impact of excessive smartphone use, social media exposure, human trafficking risks, and the influence of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, on mental health and family relationships.
I am actively involved in a variety of community and civic organizations and regularly participate in local meetings, educational events, and public discussions. I believe informed leadership requires ongoing engagement with the community and a willingness to listen to diverse viewpoints. To stay informed on issues affecting our city, I regularly attend or observe city council meetings and closely follow matters that impact residents, including infrastructure, water resources, public safety, and long-term community planning.
These experiences have strengthened my understanding of the challenges facing our community and reinforced my commitment to servant leadership, collaboration, and thoughtful decision-making that serve the best interests of all residents.
I am a member of the following groups: Moms for Liberty (non-partisan), South Texas Alliance of Republicans (STAR) Padre Island/Port Aransas Chapter, Nueces County Republican Women, and Election Integrity Project. I also attend other community events and meetings promoted by the Republican Party, such as Citizens’ Defending Freedom (CDF; non-partisan), Nueces County Republican Toastmasters’, Island Strategic Action Committee, etc., whenever possible.
How does this equip me for serving on the Corpus Christi City Council?
I have served in numerous leadership roles within organizations at the local, state, and national levels. In addition to my work with the Children’s Advocacy Center of the Coastal Bend, I have held executive leadership positions, including president and treasurer, for various professional counseling organizations. These roles have provided valuable experience in organizational governance, strategic planning, financial oversight, and collaborative decision-making.
I have also served on the Public Policy Committee of the Texas Counseling Association, where I contributed to discussions and initiatives related to public policy issues affecting the counseling profession and the individuals and families it serves. Through these leadership experiences, I have developed a strong appreciation for responsible stewardship, effective communication, and the importance of bringing diverse perspectives together to address complex challenges.
